Welcoming Dr. Brenda Cantu

February 2, 2018

Dr. Brenda Cantu is the new Digital Instruction Librarian at the JKM Library as of February 1st.  She is here to work with faculty, students, the LRWC, IT and all on campus who use technology to teach, research and learn.  She holds a doctorate in Informational Science (which is different from library science) from the University of North Texas-Denton. Her dissertation is entitled The Effects of Student-Perceived Instructor Demotivating Behaviors on Doctoral Students’ Information Seeking Behaviors.  Brenda holds bachelors and masters degrees in English (with minors in reading, curriculum and instruction) from Texas A&M, and she has spent many years teaching at the middle school, high school and community college levels, where she has worked extensively with students’ technology and skills.  Her publications include an article on Building an effective scaffolding online course: The curriculum design of the introduction to UNIX/Linux course. She knows programming, learning management systems, Cloud applications, and video instruction production.  She has never lived outside of Texas before, so let’s be sure to give Brenda a Texas-sized welcome to our campus!
